I use the bike for exercise on a daily basis on the road. On weekends I go ride trails and it performs great. I have 250 miles and no problems. Upgraded the pedals and seat.

I bought my Marlin for riding in the winter time. As mountain biking is a great cold weather sport, not as much wind on the body in the woods! This bike is balanced well. It shifts great, the cable operated disc brakes work well, just a little loud at first. The geometry is just spot on! I ride with some pretty serious guys who paid thousands more for their bikes, and if I don't keep up, I don't blame the bike! Really, it is what one would expect for the $$$, entry level components that deliver adequate performance. So, if mountain biking is in your cards, this is a good place to start! I love my ride and it enables me to ride places that I didn't think I could go! Enough said.

I luv riding this bike. All the stickers came off very easy so I could put some of my own on there Smooth shiftin and tight cornering with sweet brakes.

I bought this locally for $[...]. I have the 19 inch frame in green, very cool. It weighs 34 pounds. Bike handles as expected and shifts flawlessly. The rear chain guard (stopping chain from going into spokes, probably unnecessary) broke in the first mile. For what you pay, the components are good. Don't worry about the noise from the disc brakes, as that is normal break-in dust and goes away when cleaned. The seat is very firm so you may want to get a padded one.

The GF Marlin is a great bike, I've owned it for about 6 months now and ride about 3-4 times a week. The frame is great for additions, I recently changed my fork to a RS Reba and now this bike tears up any trail. I dont regret making this purchase.

had this bike for a year now and love it second Mt bike I have owned. I go about two times a month so not a ton but the bike has never given me a problem. If there is a con the brakes are loud but that does not bother me too bad.

Great bike for the money, love the 29er. Upgraded my old Haro 26 for the Marlin. Nothing but praise for this bike.

This bike is amazing. I love how it rides and that you have to option to turn the shocks on and off. I use it to bike trails and to commute. The only complaint I have is that the brakes are really squeaky, I find that I have to oil them a lot.

This is a great 29er ringing in at an awesome price. When given options in this price range you will see a few bikes, like the Specialized Hardrock Disc which don't boast the components of the GF Trek. What a great value! After you increase your skill set/ start riding harder you'll want to upgrade to some nicer parts. Seeing as this frame is the same as the Mamba/Cobia/ Wahoo/ Rig/ X-Cal its a good candidate to build upon. I love my Trek coming from a Specialized, and I love the geometry. You won't go wrong with this big wheeled bad boy.
